Parents play a critical role in the development of a young athlete. We ask that as a parent, you allow the coaches do the job they are trained and paid to do: coach. Your role as a "swim parent" is to be your swimmers biggest fan, be a shoulder to lean on when they are feeling down after a bad swim, be a giant bear hug waiting to happen when they do a best time. You should be tracking their events and times, while understanding that there is no such thing as a straight line progression when it comes to swimming. There will be highs and lows, and it is your job to be there as a parent for your child.
Please take the time to read through the articles posted above under "Related Articles" and "Health & Nutrition". You can play a key role in your swimmer's development by understanding the sport of swimming better and doing the necessary things away from the pool.
